This one is less of a new update and more of a helpful summary of the major changes that have happened affecting Facebook advertising in the past year since the infamous Cambridge Analytica scandal.
Basically, the most important things to remember are:
- No more Partner Categories – third-party data pools provided by companies such as Acxiom and Oracle are gone, so you have to be more creative with your prospecting targeting
- Wider use of Facebook Pixel – more advertisers are using “cookie banners” to let site visitors know what’s up, and also Pixel is more relied upon now for custom audiences because…
- Stricter Rules on Uploaded List Targeting – Facebook won’t let you target email lists unless you inform them that the list is only made up of explicitly consenting users, to ensure GDPR compliance
