Experts predict this to be a vital transitional year for Facebook. After a FTC fine of $5 billion, Facebook’s targeting options continue to decline, so they must adjust or lose advertisers to other platforms. This is also a first in largely populated countries declining in userbase, such as Japan and the Netherlands. Facebook is still the social media giant, but its position is not as secure as it once was.
